Orkin began operating in 1980, in Harfield Village , Cape Town . The founders, brothers Sam and Jack Zinn, both experts in both Pest and Wood borer control, also had years of management experience in international corporate Pest Control business.

Sam's son Jeremy, joined Orkin in 1985; and, by setting high standards, Orkin quickly became one of the leading and most reputable firms in the Cape, soon expanding its area of operations to Gauteng, and to all major centres of the Republic.

The Zinns brought about many improvements to the pest management industry in South Africa , working on national executive committees in the South African Pest Control Association.

Today, an equal opportunity company, Orkin has Jeremy, as Managing Director and general manager, with Zulfah Sulaiman, as Director of Administration, finances and Human Resources manager. The company has a committed and excellent operational team, headed up by Jeff Musikanth.

Technical and service divisions are led by senior technicians Andrew Becker and Craig Wilson, who are skilled in HACCP, pest control and fumigation.

A dedicated quality assurance team ensures that Orkin's service technicians receive regular training, as well as providing on site quality audit inspections and liaising with customers. This ensures compliance of the high standards required by HACCAP and the food safety environment.
